china (last one)

day 5

the last day in xian, the last day to see china, we went to see the terracotta warriors. this was pretty sweet. an empire so full of itslef it took 30 years and who knows how many people to make 6000 stone figures to bury in the ground with its emperor. after this we went to a royal hot spring/bath house where emperors and their concubines would go to soak. this is also where chiang kai shek's home was before he fled china and opened taiwan for business. it was interesting to see the all the bullet holes in his crib from when it was raided like a modern day coke lab. our last visit was to the wild goose pagoda. this was a buddhist worship temple built by a monk who traveled through 1/3 of the world to bring the scripts of buddha from india to china. massive. after all this we were on our way to train station for another over night express to beijing where we caught our plane and returned home at 3:00a.m. to go teach the next morning. then i found out i couldnt go to work for 7 days because i left the country and was considered an H1N1 health risk to all those in my work place. neat!

Mike/Erin,
Great pictures of China. Friends of ours...Chip and Karen...told us about the terra cota warriers just last week, because their son, Billy, is there for work. This is his 4th or 5th trip to China, I think. Too bad I couldn't have hooked you guys up for a meet. Can't wait till you both get home. It's been tooooooo long! Love, Grandma Fordosi.
